Police received a call at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday that a C.B.S. resident found the remains of a dog underwater in a small salt water pond near Pond Road in the community.
The body of the dog was recovered with the help of local firefighters, and was in the advanced stages of decomposition.
Twine was found wrapped around its legs.
The Office of the Chief Veterinarian is examining the dog's body and the matter is under investigation.
