A celebrated archeologist who unraveled the story of the Norse and the only acknowledged Norse site in North America has died.
Birgitta Wallace proved that L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland was the site of Leif Eriksson's base in Vinland.
Adjunct archeology professor Shannon Lewis-Simpson says though Wallace was a titan in her field, she was known among her peers for being modest, kind and generous with her time and expertise.
Wallace died last week in Halifax while in hospital. She was 91.
