Black Tickle remains without drinking water

People in Black Tickle, on the coast of Labrador, have been without drinking water for almost a month — and there's no relief in sight.

People in Black Tickle, on the coast of Labrador, have been without drinking water for almost a month — and there's no relief in sight.

A wastewater sensor needed for the local treatment plant has been on back-order since early February.

In the meantime, Black Tickle resident Wendy Quinlan says people have been trying to make do.

"People are using [a] natural spring, about a 20-, 25-kilometre ride one way," Quinlan said. "People are drinking the water that you get from the local pond that they use winter time."

Quinlan says residents have been patient, but frustration over the lack of safe drinking water is building.
