Donnie Snook facing sex charges in Newfoundland

A former New Brunswick politician who pleaded guilty to child sexual exploitation charges this week has now been charged with similar offences in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Donnie Snook, 41, is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on June 11 on two charges of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault.

Snook worked at the Salvation Army church in Mount Moriah during the mid-1990s.

The Western Star newspaper reports that the charges involve a boy from the community.

Snook, a former city councillor in Saint John, N.B., pleaded guilty on Wednesday to 46 charges that included sexual assault as well as making and distributing child pornography.

Court was told that Snook exploited 17 boys who were as young as five years old. Snook is scheduled to appear in court on June 25 to set a date for a sentencing hearing.
