The man was the only occupant in the vehicle, which struck a moose on the Trans-Canada Highway, about four kilometres east of Jumpers Brook Bridge, the RCMP's detachment in Grand Falls-Windsor said.
The man had been driving in a westbound lane on the TCH. Police were alerted to the crash at about 2:45 a.m.
RCMP said the man's name is being withheld while family members are being notified.
