Fishermen estimate at least 150,000 kilograms of cod have been brought ashore. Dozens of boats were involved in picking up the cod.
The fishermen and processors are waiting for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to confirm the cod is fit to eat.
It's believed the cod died and froze when they entered supercooled water during the weekend.
The department is trying to determine what caused the cod to swim into the zone of water.
Fishermen are blaming seals for chasing the cod into the cold zone.
