Gas drops for first time in 4 weeks as PUB completes base fuel price increase
Gas down 1.6 cents across much of N.L.

The price of gas has decreased in Newfoundland and Labrador for the first time since the end of January.
The Public Utilities Board lowered the maximum price of gasoline by 1.6 cents per litre across much of the province, except by 2.7 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The change puts the price of a litre of unleaded self-serve fuel at $1.72 per litre on the Avalon Peninsula.
Across the rest of the province, prices range between $1.72 and $1.86 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.73 and $2.16 per litre in Labrador.
The price of diesel increased by 1.1 cents per litre, except in Labrador West and Churchill Falls where a 0.1 cent per litre decrease was administered, meaning prices for the fuel now range between $2.02 and $2.14 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.81 and $2.25 per litre in Labrador.
The price of furnace oil increased by just over 0.9 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will pay between $1.34 and $1.52 per litre depending on their location.
An increase of just over 0.3 cents per litre for the price of stove oil means those in Labrador will now pay between $1.20 and $1.69 per litre for the fuel.
Propane decreased in price across the province, down half a cent per litre. The change puts prices between $1.17 and $1.31 per litre in Newfoundland and between 99 cents and $1.35 per litre in Labrador
The four-week adjustment of base fuel prices followed petroleum pricing in January, and changes to mark-ups and pricing zone differentials that are happening as a result.
The base price of gasoline, for example, was increased by four cents per litre since Feb. 6.
