The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has marked the grave of a beloved police horse with a fitting tribute — a cross made of horseshoes.
Townshend, who was 21-years-old, died in August. Police said his health had been deteriorating.
The horse was ridden almost exclusively by Const. George Horan, and their relationship was described by the RNC as "a partner and a best friend."
Townshend was the oldest of all RNC horses and served 13 years in the mounted unit.
