A hiker had to be rescued in Gros Morne National Park Thursday night.

A search and rescue Cormorant from Gander was able to find the man around midnight and airlift him to safety.

A spokesperson for the military said they were called after darkness set in, and ground searchers were not able to locate the man.

The spokesman said it's believed the man suffered some sort of medical condition while hiking in the park.

He was then safely airlifted to Deer Lake, however his condition is unknown.
