N.L. and N.B. premiers will meet for announcement on interprovincial trade
Susan Holt and Andrew Furey meeting on Thursday

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey and New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt will meet on Thursday to make an announcement on interprovincial trade, Radio-Canada has learned.
Furey and Holt will hold a meeting followed by an announcement in the afternoon.
Other provinces in Canada — like Ontario and Nova Scotia — have already taken steps to remove interprovincial trade barriers in response to tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump and the strained relationship between both countries.
New Brunswick has also signed a memorandum of understanding to support removing trade barriers with Ontario.
Officials in Newfoundland and Labrador, including Furey and Finance Minister Siobhan Coady, have expressed previous interest in exploring removing interprovincial barriers — but have said it's easier said than done.
"It's very difficult. It's historic. It's territorialism to a certain extent. It's not as straightforward as it appears," Furey told reporters in February.
In March, Coady said the province was trying to avoid unintended consequences that could come from lowering trade barriers with other provinces. She spoke specifically about barriers surrounding alcohol, given the province's connections to major breweries like Labatt and Molson.
