Fire destroys home in Piccadilly on the Port au Port Peninsula

Fire destroyed home in Piccadilly on the Port au Port Peninsula Tuesday morning. No one was injured in the fire.

No one was injured in the fire that levelled the home

Fire destroyed a home in Piccadilly early Tuesday morning.

A house burned to the ground in Piccadilly on the Port au Port Peninsula early Tuesday morning.

RCMP said the home was a total loss, and no one was injured.

Cpl. Lori Canning said they received a call just before 6:00 a.m. and police along with the Cape St. George volunteer fire department responded to the fire.  

The home was engulfed in flames when first responders arrived. 

Canning said the house was still smouldering when RCMP left around 10:30 a.m.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire, but CBC News was told the owners were away working at the time of the fire. 

The Bay St. George RCMP are continuing to investigate.
