INTERACTIVE: How Igor struck Newfoundland

See our map loaded with photographs and videos, many from our audience, that show precisely where Hurricane Igor caused extensive damage.

Hurricane Igor swept into eastern Newfoundland on the morning of Sept. 21, with enough force to crumble roads, destroy bridges, uproot trees and remake the landscapes of scores of communities.

What have we missed?

Make this map better. Tell us about your photos and videos.

CBC News asked for and received help from our audience in telling the story. The above map contains many of the photographs and videos we received as Igor was striking, and in the days that followed. You'll also find some contributions from our own staff.

We have plotted these elements on a Google Maps canvas, with as much precision as we can offer with each case. Photographs are marked with a purple icon, videos with a yellow marker, and other postings have a blue icon.

Drill further into each region for a better understanding of the damage that Igor caused.

This map is a work in progress, and we will be updating it as the aftermath of Igor plays out.
