Josh Collins heading home after first NASCAR race

Newfoundland racer Josh Collins is coming home on Monday after becoming the first person from this province to drive in a NASCAR race. 

Collins, who is from Placentia, was behind the wheel for two races at the Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia for part of the Canadian Tire NASCAR series.

Collins, 29, came in 19th in a field of 25 racers in the Highland Home Building Centres 100 on Friday night. 

He finished 10th out of 16 competitors at the Wounded Warriors Canada 200 on Saturday.

While he has 10 years of racing experience under his belt, taking part is a NASCAR event is new for Collins.

He is expected to make his homecoming on Monday morning.
