Residents of Labrador woke up to a surprise Saturday morning—green grounds had turned white after an overnight snowfall.

Periods of snow continued through the morning for several regions of the Big Land.

There was also snowfall warning in effect for the Eagle River area for the weekend.

An additional five centimetres of snow were forecast to fall over parts of the Trans-Labrador Highway between Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction Saturday morning.

Residents who woke up to see snow on their lawns and cars can expect to see some more before the weekend is over.

Five to ten centimetres is expected over parts of the mid-coast starting in the afternoon and into evening, and may even persist into Monday.

Environment Canada is advising people to adjust their driving with the changing road conditions.

While the winter weather may be a shock for people living in Labrador, seeing photos of the snow from the region is helping some folks in St. John's feel a little bit better about the rain and fog.
