Moose-vehicle collision kills Stephenville Crossing man

The Bay St. George RCMP says a man from Stephenville Crossing died in a motor vehicle collision with a moose near St. George's Saturday night.

Police said the accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to police, the male driver, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger, 26, also from Stephenville Crossing, was transported to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville and treated for non-life threatening injuries overnight.

The RCMP said the vehicle was discovered about 20 feet off the highway and down a slight embankment.

The police investigation into the accident is ongoing.
