Four Nova Scotia hunters face charges in Newfoundland and Labrador after wildlife enforcement says they went a little too far to get their moose.

The four have been charged after wildlife enforcement officers on the west coast of the island alleged the men were caught with illegally hunted moose.

The charges come after an investigation was launched into the four out-of-town hunters earlier in November.

Along with eight quarters of moose, wildlife officers also seized a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup, an ATV, a rifle and other hunting equipment.

Three of the four Nova Scotia hunters face charges of illegally applying in the resident big game licence draw and one is looking at charges of hunting without a valid licence.

In a press release, the province's Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division said the investigation is still ongoing.

The four hunters are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on Feb. 14, 2017.
