Oil drill-rig fire quickly extinguished

A small fire aboard the Henry Goodrich drilling rig was quickly extinguished.

The company that operates the drill rig Henry Goodrich says a small fire on board was quickly extinguished Wednesday.

Husky Energy said a small flash fire broke out on the rig at about 11:15 a.m.

The fire, which was in the vicinity of the drill floor, was put out immediately using a pressure washer.

No one was injured.

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board said drilling operations have been shut down until the fire is investigated and it is deemed safe to resume drilling.

The C-NLOPB is in contact with senior officials at Husky and is monitoring the situation.
