Portrait exhibit showcases ECMA nominees from Newfoundland & Labrador
A weekend art exhibit in St. John's is featuring some familiar faces on the award-winning music scene.
Photographer Graham Kennedy shot portraits of some of Newfoundland and Labrador's East Coast Music Award nominees for an exhibit he calls The NL Consulate.
The exhibition showcases high-quality portraits of people like CBC Radio host and musician Tom Power, Wallace Hammond, nominated for live sound engineer of the year, as well as Matthew Byrne, who was nominated for roots/traditional recording of the year.
A portrait of the Fred's Records staff is also on display. The St. John's store was nominated for merchant of the year.
"Musicians need good work. They need good photography to represent them. It really helps propel their careers," said Kennedy.
"It's an integral part of the industry."
The NL Consulate exhibit is on display at the Eastern Edge Gallery in St. John's until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
