Premier Paul Davis wants answers from federal party leaders
Slams Conservative stand on CETA fish fund
Premier Paul Davis has taken a swipe at Conservative leader Stephen Harper in letters to the leaders of the four main federal parties, asking where they stand on issues pertaining to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The letters, which Davis sent to Harper, the Liberal's Justin Trudeau, the NDP's Thomas Mulcair and Green Party's Elizabeth May, pose similar questions to each candidate.
Davis is seeking to clarify their positions on issues such as marine search and rescue, 5 Wing Goose Bay, and fish quotas.
In his letter to Harper, Davis slammed the Conservatives' denial of a $400 million dollar fisheries fund for the province as part of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
In his letters to Mulcair, and Trudeau, Davis commended their respective parties' support for such a fund.
In a press release Wednesday, Davis said he wants the leaders to make their positions known on such topics important to voters in Newfoundland and Labrador, before people head to the polls on Oct. 19.
