Police say man walking in area of Mint Cove Pond Road has not been located

The RCMP has lifted its shelter in place order for the Mint Cove Pond Road area of Spaniard's Bay.
Police issued the order Monday morning after reports of an unknown man walking with a firearm in the area.
RCMP Cpl. Jolene Garland CBC News the man hasn't been located, but there's nothing to suggest there was ill intent or foul play. The order was issued out of an abundance of caution.
Garland said the man could have been carrying a paint gun or transporting a hunting rifle.
Police will remain in the area and the investigation is continuing, she said.
This latest event follows more than a week of heavy police response, including an incident in the west end of St. John's over the weekend, a targeted shooting in Grand Falls-Windsor, shootings in the Shea Heights neighbourhood of St. John's and the east end, and a death on Watson Street that has led to a first-degree murder charge.
