Joint Task Force Atlantic has released video taken while providing aid and support to a fishing vessel that struck ice on Sunday night.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax dispatched a C130 Hercules aircraft from 413 squadron in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, as well as the CCGS Louis St. Laurent icebreaker, after the F/V Saputi ran into ice and began taking on water while fishing for turbot in the Davis Strait.
The Hercules aircraft from 413 squadron dropped off four extra pumps to remove water from the vessel, while other Hercules monitored the Saputi as it travelled to Greenland.
All 30 crew members aboard the ship were safe, however the ship lost about $1 million in catch and sustained at least $1 million in damage.
