Team Gushue reflects, 10 years after Olympic gold
Ten years ago today, Newfoundland and Labrador saw Brad Gushue and his team sweep to an Olympic gold medal in curling.
The team beat Finland in a 10-4 victory at the 2006 Winter Games in Italy.
It was a historic event for the province, marking the first time athletes from Newfoundland and Labrador have ever won Olympic gold.
The CBC's Jonathan Crowe spoke to team members about their big moment, and asked how their lives have changed over the last decade.
"It doesn't feel like 10 years, the memories are still fresh," said Gushue, who was 25 back in 2006.
"When you experience a lot of other stuff in your life, you realize that that moment was pretty special … it's a memory I'm going to have for the rest of my life, and so are these guys. It's one we're going to cherish."
