The Bay de Verde Barrens is a scary place to drive alone. But what if you're not alone, after all?

"There's all these ghost stories about The Barrens."

Author Charis Cotter has heard many spooky tales about the Bay de Verde Barrens, a lonely highway near her adopted home of Western Bay. But one night, while driving alone on the Barrens, Cotter had a ghostly encounter of her own.

"I had the strangest feeling that I wasn't alone," Cotter said. "There was someone else with me in the car."
