Men facing drugs, weapons charges ordered to not wear motorcycle club clothes
2 believed Vikings associates arrested on drugs, weapons charges
Two men, believed to be associates of the Vikings Motorcycle Club, were arrested overnight for drugs and weapons charges.
Salvatore Cicciarella, 59, from Brigus, is facing charges of possessing a controlled drug or substance — Hydromorphinol, a derivative of morphine — for the purpose of trafficking, and carrying a prohibited weapon — a handgun — in a vehicle.
James Percy Curran, 51, from Cupids, is also charged with carrying a handgun and possessing Hydromorphinol for the purpose of trafficking.
The pair were arrested overnight in the Trinity-Conception area and appeared on the Harbour Grace court docket Thursday.
Both Curran and Cicciarella were released from custody on numerous conditions after appearing, via video from Harbour Grace, in St. John's provincial court Tuesday afternoon.
As conditions of their release, they are not to associate with each other or anyone with a criminal record. They are also forbidden to wear clothing "affiliated with any motorcycle club."
Their lawyer Bob Buckingham said both accused had a few dozen pills each. He also said the gun they possessed was a wooden replica that could not fire bullets.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court again in early April.
