William Conway, the man accused of causing his girlfriend's death with a motor vehicle last October, is expected to plead guilty in the case.

Provincial court in St. John's was told that a hearing - likely a speedy disposition - is being scheduled for next week.

A speedy disposition indicates that a guilty plea is being readied.

Conway, 50, was charged with criminal negligence causing death after Veronica Lewis was found dead on a street in the Airport Heights neighbourhood of St. John's last fall. He was also charged with impaired driving causing death.

On Monday, defence lawyer Michelle Coady told the court that a statement of facts is being prepared by the Crown.

Coady said Conway will not enter a plea until the defence is satisfied with the statement.
