Williams against N.L. online gambling
Premier Danny Williams says he's against allowing online gambling in the province and said Wednesday that he'll vote against it when it comes before the government's cabinet.
Premier Danny Williams said Wednesday that he's against online gambling and added that he'll vote against it when it comes before the government's cabinet.
"From my perspective I'll be voting against it. It's not going to happen," Williams told VOCM Radio Thursday.
Newfoundland and Labrador has been studying a proposal from the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) for the province to make money from online gambling.
The ALC said $50 million in potential revenue is flowing out of the province through online gambling websites.
It said revenues from video lottery terminals (VLTs) have decreased here since Newfoundland and Labrador reduced the number of VLTs in the province.
