The man charged in Saturday's RCMP shooting incident in Igloolik, Nunavut, appeared in Iqaluit court by video Tuesday morning.

Donovan Iyerak, 27, is charged with four counts of attempted murder and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Iyerak is at the Baffin Correctional Centre in Iqaluit.

On Saturday, a man with a shotgun drove a snowmobile around Igloolik and fired shots at the RCMP detachment and at police vehicles.

A police officer was shot and wounded and is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of Winnipeg's Major Crimes Unit are still in Igloolik.

A Crown prosecutor told the court the investigation is complicated since the RCMP's own detachment building in Igloolik is a crime scene.

RCMP have been working out of the community's hamlet office.

The case is scheduled to be in court again on Nov. 4.
