New 911 call centre aims to change the way calls are dispatched in northern communities
Ian Lafrenière, Quebec’s Indigenous affairs minister, announced dispatchers located in Saint-Eustache, Que., will respond to 911 calls from five of Quebec’s northern communities in the hopes of improving emergency response.

Wildfire near Tulip Lake now 'being held,' says N.W.T. Fire
The fire is 15 kilometres northeast of Fort Fitzgerald and 28 kilometres east of Fort Smith. As of Tuesday afternoon, N.W.T. Fire says it's not expected to spread beyond the existing containment lines.

Nunavut caribou survey saved by cellphones
In 2023, scientists were conducting an aerial survey of the Beverly caribou herd when its photography plane suffered mechanical issues. So the surveyors taped their cellphones inside the plane windows to take videos, and hoped for the best.
