Autopsy today for woman found in Yellowknife alley

An autopsy will be performed today in Edmonton on a woman found in a Yellowknife alley Saturday morning.

An autopsy will be performed today in Edmonton on a woman found in a Yellowknife alley Saturday morning.

Police were called around 7:30 a.m. MT Saturday about a woman found unresponsive in the alley behind the Gold Range Hotel. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The RCMP and the N.W.T. Coroner's Office are investigating the death.

Chief Coroner Cathy Menard confirmed the body has been sent to Edmonton for a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to be performed today.

RCMP have not released the woman's name or the cause of death.
