Beaver Creek evacuation alert ends
Wildfire that triggered alert got rained on

The Yukon government says a wildfire alert for Beaver Creek and surrounding areas has ended.
The alert, which told residents to be prepared in case a nearby wildfire meant they needed to leave, was originally issued Monday. It applied to the community, properties east of the Alaska Highway along the Beaver Creek waterway and roads intersecting the Alaska Highway between kilometres 1,868 and 1,879.
An update to the territory's wildfire map on Wednesday afternoon said a wildfire burning to the northwest — which triggered the alert in the first place — got about 12 millimetres of rain in the past two days and is showing "low to minimal fire activity."
The update said fire crews extinguished several hot spots on the south end of the fire and a dozer guard is under construction from the airport to the town. That cleared strip of land will serve as a firebreak.
It added that winds are expected to pick up, but are forecasted to hush the fire away from town, not toward it.
