N.W.T. conservation officers shot and killed a black bear in Yellowknife Thursday afternoon behind the Shell gas station on Range Lake Road.
RCMP told CBC that they received a call about a bear in the area just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
Foot patrols and police vehicles went out to find the animal, and the territory's Department of Environment and Natural Resources sent out a helicopter to aid in the search.
The bear was located behind the Shell station shortly after the search began.
No-one from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources was immediately available for comment.
