A boil water advisory has been issued for the hamlet of Pond Inlet, Nunavut.

The territory's Department of Health said in a news release on Thursday that it was a safety measure due to high turbidity, or cloudiness, in the tap water.

Residents are asked to boil all water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, preparing infant formula, juices or ice cubes, washing produce, or brushing teeth.

The territory says it will give notice when the advisory is lifted.
