Cars vandalized in Whitehorse Canadian Tire parking lot
Cars broken into, belongings scattered around
Several vehicles in the Whitehorse Canadian Tire parking lot were vandalized Wednesday night.
About 12 cars were broken into and peoples’ belongings were scattered around. The cars had been left overnight for servicing.
The owner of the store, Dan Charlebois, said he’s disgusted by the vandalism.
"The ones that didn't get broken windows – some of them got keyed and the paint got damaged. And they're going to have to call their insurance companies and it's a cost to everybody and a great inconvenience. A lot of them are out-of-towners as well, and you know they're going to have to get their vehicles fixed before they can drive back home so it's an inconvenience, just stupidity, no reason for it," said Charlebois.
The store has surveillance cameras in the parking lot, but Charlebois said he doesn’t know if they will be a help in tracking down the culprits.
Charlebois said nothing like this has happened in his 10 years at the store.
Charlebois is asking anyone with information to contact the RCMP, which is investigating the incident.
Earlier Wednesday night, there was a report of youths running from roof to roof of vehicles at a car dealership. Three youths were later arrested.
