Yellowknife-based Det’on Cho Corporation has named a new president and CEO, following the departure of Roy Erasmus Jr. earlier this year.

Yellowknife-based Det'on Cho Corporation has named its new permanent president and CEO, following the departure of Roy Erasmus Jr. in February.

The corporation — the business arm of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation — has announced the appointment of James Wong.

Wong is a chartered accountant with "significant Northern, First Nations and international business experience," according to a press release from the corporation.

He's held senior management positions with Diavik Diamond Mine and the territorial government's Financial Management Board Secretariat. Most recently, Wong worked with the N.W.T. Business Development and Investment Corp.

Through its subsidiaries and joint ventures, Det'on' Cho's services include catering and camp services, logistics, construction, and mine remediation.

Erasmus left the corporation at the beginning of the year, as did Rick Miller, Det'on Cho's vice-president of mining and construction.

When Erasmus left, consultant Bob Murphy was brought in as president to "undertake a restructuring and reorganizing of the corporation."

The press release says that work was successful.

It says Wong will focus on enhancing existing partnerships.
