Elder unknowingly carried alcohol, drugs to Paulatuk: RCMP
RCMP in Paulatuk, N.W.T., seized alcohol and marijuana at the airport Saturday from packages an elder had been asked to bring back to the community.
RCMP in Paulatuk, N.W.T., seized alcohol and marijuana at the airport Saturday from packages an elder had been asked to bring back to the community.
Police say the woman had been given three packages to bring back into the community. Police believe she didn't know what she was carrying as the eight bottles of alcohol and 55 grams of marijuana was packed in with non-perishable food.
No charges have been laid at this time.
Police are reminding people that they are responsible for anything they bring into a community and that they can be charged with carrying illegal drugs or alcohol even if they aren't aware they are carrying them.
