Grise Fiord, Nunavut, drone video shows beach in Canada's northernmost community

Jeffrey Qaunaq of Grise Fiord, Nunavut, captured this aerial video of Canada's northernmost civilian settlement last week using a drone.

"Like any other gadget that comes out, [I] want to try out new things," he said.

"I took the footage last Thursday for fun and once I loaded the video it looked good and decided to share."

The video shows the community's shoreline on Jones Sound on the southern tip of Ellesmere Island. 

Qaunaq said he has taken his drone out on the land once but is still waiting to get some wildlife shots.

"If I get really good at it, [I'm] hoping to get more tourist interest to Grise Fiord," he said.

Grise Fiord, population 148, is Nunavut's northernmost community.

CFS Alert, located on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island, is the northernmost settlement in Canada.
