Igloolik boil-water advisory continues
Nunavut's Department of Health is supporting a boil-water advisory issued by the hamlet last week. It says the same rules apply to those melting ice as those using tap water.
Melted ice should be boiled as well as tap water, Health department says
Nunavut's Department of Health is supporting a boil-water advisory issued by the hamlet last week, but says the advisory is a precaution only.
Igloolik is currently experiencing water problems as its reservoir is low and much of it is frozen. Some people have found unidentified organisms in their water.
Until further notice, residents are advised to boil all water for one minute before drinking it or using it for:
- preparing baby formula,
- making juice or ice cubes,
- cooking,
- washing fruits and vegetables,
- or brushing teeth.
The advisory applies to melted ice as well as tap water.
