Judge rules Michael Nehass mentally unfit to stand trial
A Yukon Territorial Court judge has found Michael Nehass unfit to stand trial.
Justice Michael Cozens says a psychiatrist's evaluation and Nehass's own actions in court convince him the man is not capable of participating rationally in his trial.
Nehass is facing charges including an assault on a jail guard.
In court earlier this week, Nehass said his legal troubles are part of a giant conspiracy involving politicians and even judges.
Cozens says Nehass is easily derailed by his delusions and has shown he can't rationally collaborate with his lawyers.
Nehass says he will appeal the decision.
Meanwhile, Nehass will be back in court next week for a procedural hearing before his case is turned over to the Yukon Mental Health Review Board. The board will decide on treatment.
