Voters in the Northwest Territories can once again register online to vote in the territorial election on Nov. 23.

"We did have online registration in 2011, but the interactive voter lookup is a new feature," said N.W.T. Chief Electoral Officer Nicole Latour.

Voters can search for their name on the Elections NWT website and immediately find out if they are registered or not. They can also see if their address is correct.

"If they've had a move and it reflects their old address for example, they can go ahead and go to the registration port and correct that information to make sure everything is ready for them when they go to cast their ballot," Latour said.

Voters have until Nov. 4 to register online, though they can still register at the polling station on election day. Latour suggests voters make sure they're on the list before they head to the polls.

"It makes your experience at the poll much quicker and smoother," she says.

Latour said Elections NWT online registration is for the territorial election only, and doesn't apply to municipal or federal elections.
