'Doing OK': Gjoa Haven beginning to heal after baby's death
A funeral has been held and the department of health has flown in counsellors to help
The MLA for Gjoa Haven says the community is trying to heal following the death of a baby on July 4 which is under investigated by both the department of health and the coroner's office.
A funeral has already been held and the department of health has flown in three counsellors to help anyone who needs to talk.
"The people directly affected — they've been talking to them and helping them out and also anyone who needs to speak to them was invited to go to their sessions," said Akoak.
The sessions are being held in the afternoons as well as in the evenings until eight or nine.
