Nunavut MLA charged with drunk driving in P.E.I.
Nunavut MLA David Joanasie is facing impaired driving charges following an incident in Charlottetown on Monday, he announced in a statement Friday.

Nunavut MLA David Joanasie is facing impaired driving charges following an incident in Charlottetown on Monday, he announced in a statement Friday.
Joanasie, MLA for South Baffin, said the incident occurred during a personal trip to Prince Edward Island.
In his statement, Joanasie said "I accept full responsibility for my actions and make no excuses for my lack of judgment. I am very grateful that nobody was injured as a result of this incident."
He also apologized to his family, constituents and his colleagues.
Joanasie, 30, is the youngest person to be elected to Nunavut's fourth legislative assembly.
He was elected for the first time this past October.
He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Charlottetown on Sept. 4.
