Pilot dies after helicopter crash near Behchokǫ, N.W.T.
RCMP say lone passenger, pilot of a helicopter, has died after a crash near Highway 3

N.W.T. RCMP say there was a helicopter crash near the community of Behchokǫ̀ on Monday and the pilot has died.
In a news release, RCMP said they responded around 12 p.m. to a crash site after they were notified that an aircraft had crashed about 1.5 kilometres from Highway 3 near the community.
RCMP members immediately went to the site and provided emergency assistance.
"A lone passenger, the pilot, has been located, with sustained injuries. Behchokǫ̀ RCMP members administered CPR to the victim, who later succumbed to his injuries," the release said.
The Transportation Safety Board told CBC News that the helicopter was registered to Great Slave Helicopters. A spokesperson said in an email it was aware of the crash and "gathering information."
N.W.T. Fire confirmed that the helicopter involved was not related to any wildfire response efforts.
"Our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim," the RCMP release said.
CBC reached out to Great Slave Helicopters on Monday afternoon and was told they're not taking media inquiries at this time.
