Pond Inlet tent fire claims life of 9-year-old child

A nine-year-old child from Pond Inlet has succumbed to her injuries after a family's tent caught fire this weekend near the Nunavut community.

Other family members in critical and serious condition, but all stable

Nunavut RCMP have confirmed a nine-year-old child who was severely injured when a tent caught fire this weekend near Pond Inlet, Nunavut, has died.

A family of six was camping about a two-hour boat ride west of Pond Inlet, when a camping stove ignited their tent Sunday morning. At the time, they were all sleeping. 

One of the parents and two children remain in critical but stable condition. The other parent and a third child are in serious but stable condition.

All six family members were medevaced to Ottawa.
