A well-known Nunavut fur designer opened a new store in downtown Iqaluit over the weekend.

Rannva Simonsen began designing fur fashions in 1999. She has a home studio that she will maintain in Apex, but her main location will now be in Iqaluit on Pitsi Lane.

She said it's been a long-time dream of hers to open a store in the busier area.

"I'm pretty excited about it," she said. "It's been in the dreams for 10 years and in the works for two or three and actually I'm exhilarated to have it happening finally and I'm proud to have an outlet for seal skin products."

Simonsen's collection includes clothing for men, women and children and a variety of gift items.
