A search is underway on Great Slave Lake for a group of boaters reported overdue in Lutselk'e, N.W.T.

RCMP say four adults and a child left Yellowknife for Lutselk'e on Saturday, travelling in a white, 18-foot aluminum boat. 

This morning, relatives in Lutselk'e alerted authorities that the group was overdue.

RCMP, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and the military are helping with the search.

Operation Nunakput, an annual Canadian Forces maritime sovereignty patrol, began yesterday on Great Slave Lake. Vessels and personnel taking part in the operation have been diverted to help with the search. 

A Twin Otter from Yellowknife's 440 Squadron is helping with an aerial search between Yellowknife and Lutselk'e along normal routes used by residents.
