RCMP in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., say they seized about 261 grams of what they believe is crack cocaine at the community's airport on April 20.

In a news release Thursday, police said they received a tip that a woman would be flying in with alcohol. The community has restrictions on alcohol, though not a complete prohibition.

Police said when they approached the woman, they "developed further grounds to believe" she had drugs on her. They arrested and searched her, which led to the seizure in question.

Marie Erutse, 33, of Fort Good Hope faces a charge of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She is set to appear in court in Fort Good Hope on June 2.

The seizure came just days before the community was set to host a gathering of Sahtu leaders to address the ongoing drug crisis. This week, leaders said they want to put together an action plan to address the crisis in the region.
