Yellowknife RCMP charge pair with trafficking fentanyl
In the third drug raid in Yellowknife this week, RCMP have seized narcotic pills from a home in the School Draw Avenue area.
RCMP executed a search warrant Wednesday, and seized 88 fentanyl pills, cash, and a small amount of crack cocaine and marijuana.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate, more concentrated than heroin, prescribed in patch form for advanced pain management. Police say it's gained popularity as a recreational drug in recent years, pressed into homemade pills.
Police say fentanyl is responsible for hundreds of deaths across Canada.
Rory Quentin Moore, 29, Lillian Paniloo, 20, both of Yellowknife, are charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Moore is also charged with the possession of proceeds of crime.
Both are scheduled to make their next court appearance on Oct. 21 in Yellowknife.
