Yukon's Jessica Frotten wins 3 silver at national track meet
Placed 2nd in the 200-, 400- and 800-metre wheelchair races
Yukon's Jessica Frotten picked up three silver medals at the Canadian National Track and Field Championships in Moncton, N.B. over the weekend.
Frotten finished second in the 200, 400 and 800 metre wheelchair races.
She says the event is an important step in advancing her athletic career.
"This is huge; this is the big one for the year," she said. "There are a lot of Olympic and Paralympic athletes out here racing right now so this is where you kind of get picked up, scouted for the team."
Frotten said she continues to be grateful for all the support she receives from Yukoners and she is now heading back to the territory.
Frotten's spinal cord was damaged in a car crash on the Alaska Highway in December 2009. The driver of the vehicle in which Frotten was a passenger was acquitted of impaired driving earlier this year.
