Information Morning co-host Louise Renault and the CBC Do Crew got dirty in Dartmouth today.

They pitched in to help out at the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre, helping with the community garden, building a rock wall and even a tree house.

And they were rewarded with their efforts with a lovely lunch. Here's a video of today's events.

The Dartmouth North CFC is a place where residents share the growing, preparation and eating of healthy, affordable food.

The organization is creating an urban farm, complete with vegetable gardens, community plots, a greenhouse, fruit and nut trees and a shady play area for kids that they're calling a secret forest.

CBC Nova Scotia's Do Crew is a monthly initiative celebrating the spirit of volunteerism and community in the Halifax region.
