CBC Do Crew to volunteer at Farm Fit Fridays in Dartmouth North
No experience necessary but folks with carpentry skills a plus
The latest CBC Do Crew project is looking for volunteers who want to work outdoors.
This month's Do Crew will be participating in what Dartmouth North Community Food Centre calls Farm Fit Fridays, a chance for people to help in the gardens, and then be fed fresh food.
The event is perfect for those who want to work outdoors in a garden, no experience necessary. Also, any folks with carpentry skills are welcome, as we hope to work on building a tree house.
The Dartmouth North CFC is a place where residents share the growing, preparation and eating of healthy, affordable food. The organization is creating an urban farm, complete with vegetable gardens, community plots, a greenhouse, fruit and nut trees and a shady play area for kids they're calling a secret forest.
It's also a place where residents can meet with peer advocates to help them navigate community resources, and have a delicious, free lunch.
If the weather is too wet to work outside, we'll help with preparing the community meal that is served on Farm Fit Fridays. We'll also get to eat what is sure to be a delicious lunch!
You can find out more at Dartmouth North CFC's website.
